Today we have our first look at Ralph Fiennes and Felicity Jones in Fiennes’ second directorial effort, The Invisible Woman. The film tells the story of the 13-year affair between Charles Dickens and Nelly Ternan, a woman who was 27 years younger than the author.
Fiennes and Jones will play the star-crossed lovers while Tom Hollander and Kristin Scott Thomas will take on the supporting roles of Wilkie Collins and Ternan’s mother Catherine, respectively. The film is based on Claire Tomalin’s book and the screenplay is written by Abi Morgan, who gave us a tremendous film last year with Shame.
Based on the photos we see here, both Jones and Fiennes look good in character. Personally, I loved Fiennes’ directorial debut Coriolanus, it was a realistic and organic modern Shakespeare adaptation that thoroughly pleased me. The subject matter for The Invisible Woman is definitely interesting and with the strong talent lined up for the film, this is definitely one that you’ll want to keep your eye on.
The Invisible Woman is currently in production and is likely to released in 2013.
