Actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt will be starring in a remake of Little Shop Of Horrors, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
It may seem like an odd casting choice on the surface but when you think about it, it’s been a long time coming. If you recall, the actor appeared on SNL to perform his “Make ‘Em Laugh” intro, which first put the idea into people’s minds that he may be able to lead a musical.
Now, a few years later, it looks like he’ll get the chance as he’s set to star in the remake of Frank Oz‘s classic film. He’ll play the lead role of florist Seymour, “who needs to continually feed a plant that feasts on human blood.” Though no director is on board, Glee’s Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa will pen the script.
Like I said, it’s a bit of an odd casting choice but if you watched the actor on SNL, you’ll see that he does have the ability to do the whole ‘song and dance’ act. Personally, I’d love to see Joseph Gordon-Levitt continue on with more serious and dramatic roles as I’m still waiting for him to win his Best Actor Oscar. That being said, I think the Little Shop Of Horrors remake will turn out well and I’m excited to see what Gordon-Levitt can do with the genre.
