BioWare just announced Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut, a free DLC that will expand on the events at the end of the game and provide a bit more closure.
Fans have been universally panning the ending to Mass Effect 3, begging BioWare to make changes to what they felt wasn’t the right way to end the series. What seemed like a bold move on BioWare‘s part instead was interpreted by fans to disenfranchise them from the hours they sunk into developing Commander Shepherd to their own specifications.
Some fans have even taken it upon themselves to start an online petition to convince BioWare to change Mass Effect 3‘s ending. BioWare has been listening all alongĀ and they’re already in progress of expanding upon the game with more content centered around the epilogue.
Executive producer Casey Hudson stated:
We have reprioritised our post-launch development efforts to provide the fans who want more closure with even more context and clarity to the ending of the game, in a way that will feel more personalised for each player.
Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut is slated to come out later this summer free of charge for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.
