A couple of days after the travesty that was the announcement of the Golden Globe nominations, the Screen Actors Guild have released theirs and these are perhaps the best indication of how the acting categories will shape up at the Oscars. They have corrected the wrongs of the Golden Globe nominations by acknowledging True Grit and Robert Duvall’s performance in Get Low.
There are reasons to raise an eyebrow however, where are the nominations for Another Year and Annette Bening was great in The Kids Are All Right but equally brilliant was Julianne Moore who at least deserves Best Supporting Actress consideration. But as I predicted, despite doing excellent work, the cast of Inception continue to be unrecognised even as an ensemble. I’m also not convinced by the love for Jeremy Renner’s performance in The Town, a good film but I don’t remember him being that outstanding in it.
The TV nominations are very similar to that of the Golden Globes but a tad more sensible. So Jennifer Love Hewitt is nowhere to be found. A full list of nominations is below.
